These patterns takes advantage of your desire to work a quick, easy-to-memorize pattern utilizing the knit stitch and one simple variation of the knit stitch. Learn a new cast-on for the hat, while you’re at it.  There’s no purling, no yarn-overs and no complex lace combinations, yet the result has the look of a sophisticated design.

To make this work, I have you knit the "mystery stitch" portion on the wrong side. Once finished, turn it inside out to reveal the double rose fabric. Soon you’ll have the rhythm of the work, and it’s a soothing knit.
